WELCOME TO THE 2010 GASPL SEASON
We are very proud to announce that we have 19 teams in the league this season, 9 Co-Ed teams & 10 Men’s teams. Thank you to all of our returning players and welcome to the new players who are joining us for the first time. We hope that everyone enjoys themselves and has a safe and fun season. Here are a few reminders to help ensure the season runs smoothly:
LEAGUE WEBSITE
Please remember to visit our website to view your team schedule, standings, rules, lost & found, general league news and updates, and so much more. Bookmark it, and visit often. Our site is located at www.glenabbeyslo-pitch.com The website also includes a listing of the league executive members, and our contact information. Please feel free to contact us at anytime if you have any issues, concerns, or suggestions on how we may improve the league.
SCORING
Final scores MUST be reported by the winning team NO LATER than 5pm Wednesday of that week. Scores are to be entered on-line using the new “Report-A-Score” function found on the league website. Failure to notify the league on time will result in the winning team recording a NO WIN, or 0 points being awarded. Watch for all results and standings updates on the website.
WEATHER
Do not assume there is no game because the weather appears unfavorable. If you have not been told by the umpire or the executive that the game has been cancelled, it is the team’s responsibility to show up (with a minimum 8 players) or risk defaulting the game. We will not play in dangerous conditions, but you cannot be sure what the weather will be like (or the field conditions) until game time. If your game is rained out on the weekend, please be prepared to possibly play on the following Tuesday in order to make up the game.
SAFETY
For the safety of yourself and your fellow players it is strongly recommended that your wear appropriate baseball footwear on the field. For the home team, players that set up the bases before a game, please ensure the bases are secured in a proper manner, with two (2) pegs to secure 2nd and 3rd base on each side of the base, and NOT directly in the slide path. Four (4) pegs should be used to secure 1st base at opposite edges of the white and orange on line from first to second and along the foul line at each side of the bag where the orange and white portion meets.
BOSTON PIZZA “PLAYER OF THE GAME AWARD” DORVAL LOCATION - OAKVILLE
Boston Pizza (Dorval Road) has stepped forward to supply each team with “Player Of The Game” coupons. Here is how the promotion will work. One Boston Pizza “Player Of The Game Award” coupon is to be awarded at the end of each game by the captain to a member of the opposing team who demonstrates exceptional play in any of the following ways:
- Great sportsmanship (made the game fun to play, was inspirational)
- Made an outstanding catch, hit, throw, or pitch
- Showed tremendous improvement, exceeded expectations
- Was Team MVP
2010 SPONSORS

Check out the sponsor tab and view the links to each one to see what offers are available. The Glen Abbey Slo-Pitch League is very grateful to all our sponsors who help to support our teams and I hope that we can all do our best to patronize these establishments throughout the season and say “thank-you”.
BANQUET
Mark Friday October 23, 2009 down on your calenders for our year end awards banquet and dinner. This year’s banquet will be held again at our sponsor Le Dome. Tickets will go on sale in August. We will again be featuring our “slide show” so please be sure to take photos of your team throughout the season to be included in this presentation!!!
FINALLY!!!
Let’s all have a great season playing softball. Try to support your fellow player as well as your contending player, respect the umpires (who have zero-tolerance for foul language or poor conduct), be responsible for cleaning up after the game, (note that the league cannot condone alcohol at the ballpark) and exercise good sportsmanship and fair play at all times.
Thank you.
