WHO IS THE GLEN ABBEY SLO-PITCH LEAGUE?
We are an adult recreational softball league that has two divisions, men's and co-ed. Players with all skill levels and experience are welcome to join the league.
HOW MUCH IS THE REGISTRATION FEE?
The registration fee is $125.00 per player, per season. In the event your team does not find a sponsor, each player will be required to pay an additional fee for a jersey (Maximum $25.00). Please note that every effort will be made by the league to secure sponsors.
WHEN DOES THE SEASON BEGIN?
Regular season begins early May and runs through the end of August. Playoffs run through the end of September.
HOW MANY GAMES ARE PLAYED?
All teams in both divisions will play a minimum of 18 regular season games. All teams qualifiy for the playoffs at the end of the season.
WHERE ARE THE DIAMONDS / GAMES PLAYED?
The majority of the games are played on the Glenashton diamonds located at the Iroquois Ridge Community Center (Glenashton & 8th Line). Other parks may be used including 16 Hollow Park (Upper Middle Road & Westoak Trails)
WHEN ARE THE GAMES PLAYED?
Teams play every Sunday, except on long weekends between 11 AM and 11 PM. Games are also played on Monday nights from 7 PM to 11 PM and the occasional Tuesday night. All games are 9 innings in length or a maximum time limit of 1 hour and 40 minutes. All games are officiated by SPN carded officials.
HOW ARE TEAMS SELECTED?
Men's Division: Teams are selected by a player draft held in April. Each team manager selects 14 players.
Co-Ed Division: Teams are set by the League Executive with an emphasis on creating a competitive league and accommodating player requests.
CAN I JOIN WITH A FRIEND/PARTNER? CAN WE PLAY ON THE SAME TEAM?
Men's Division: As teams are selected by a draft, the league can not guarantee that you will be drafted on to the same team. All captains are informed of player requests prior to the draft, but unfortunately we can not guarantee player placement.
Co-Ed Division: We can accommodate most requests to join with a spouse/partner or friend. Please indicate on your registration form who you would like to play with. Larger player requests may be possible.
HOW MANY PLAYERS ARE ON A TEAM?
In both divisions, each team is comprised of 14 players. Co-Ed division teams are made up of 7 males and 7 females.
WHAT EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED?
All players are required to provide their own glove and shoes. League bats are available at each diamond.
