ATTENTION ALL GLEN ABBEY SLO-PITCH LEAGUE MEMBERS

The following rules were voted on and passed at the Annual General Meeting:

Rule 1.13  After crossing the Commitment Line, a runner can not be "tagged out".  The out must be made with the defensive player, in control of the ball, touching home plate before the runner crosses the Safe Line.  A runner who has been "tagged" after crossing the commitment line is considered safe at the plate.  A runner may be tagged prior to crossing the commitment line.

Rule 1.33 (Men's Division)  Spares from outside the Glen Abbey Slo-Pitch League may not be used.  Only registered male players from the Co-Ed Division and male players on the league waiting list are eligible spare replacements.

NEW RULE  (All Divisions)  A player must participate in a minimum of 2/3's of all regular season games to be eligible to play in the playoffs.  (Calculation based on when the players joins the team).  It is at the discretion of the team's manager whether or not to allow an individual who does not meet eligibility requirements to play in the playoffs.  Any player playing 2/3's of the regular season games must be allowed the opportunity to play in the playoffs.  Any decision made by the team's managers must be reported to the league prior to the first playoff game.

One issue that was discussed but not voted on was Rule 1.34 and how players in the Men's Division are protected and drafted by teams.  As this was a very complex issue, it was decided that several options would be put forward to the Men's Division player's to vote on via the internet survey.  This voting has now been completed and the results were overwhelmingly in favor of a change.

102 players from the Men's Division received an email invitation to participate in the online survey.  (2007 registered Men's Division player who provided the league with an email address)
61 of these Men's Division players responded and participated in the online survey.
94% responded to revise the current rule 1.34
53% voted to protect 7 players
43% voted for no player ratings or a point cap for the protected players

This new draft procedure and all the implications will be communicated in greater detail in the weeks to come.
